Robins selected for DiSE

Two of our Hull KR Foundation Robins, Ella Howe and Daisy Ginger, have been selected for the 2024-2026 DiSE cohort. This is an outstanding achievement for the two girls who have had great seasons for the under 16 side. Ella and Daisy were both previously selected to take part in the U16’s Girls Central Yorkshire Talent Hub earlier this year.

‘DiSE’, (Diploma in Sporting Excellence) is an England Rugby League initiative in which just thirty female players nationally are selected to participate. Ella and Daisy join a rich history of Hull KR Foundation players that have been selected, past players include; Aaliyah Brewster, Holly Cole, Abbie Kudla, Jess Sharp and Amy Nolan.

Ben Parker, Head of Women and Girls rugby league for the Hull KR Foundation, said “I’m really pleased for Daisy and Ella with their inclusion in the 2024-2026 DiSE programme. It’s a great reward for their hard work and dedication to the sport. From a pathway viewpoint, it’s great to have another two girls follow in the footsteps of previous DiSE programme selections. It is something we are rightly very proud of at the Hull KR Foundation.”

The girls will be hoping to emulate stars such as Keara Bennett (Leeds Rhinos), Eboni Partington (York Valkyrie), Katie Mottershead (St Helens) Bella Sykes (Leeds Rhinos) and Isabel Rowe (Wigan Warriors) who have all gone through the DiSE pathway and proceeded to play for the England Women’s national team. The girls are excited to join the programme and can’t wait to get started. Daisy said “I think its a great opportunity especially to be selected with just thirty girls from the country, it feels really good” Ella said “It felt like an opportunity I had to take”.

On her future prospects Daisy said: “The hope is to play for England one day and it feels good to have the background of starting with Hull KR”.

Liam Waslin, Rugby League Development Manager for the Hull KR Foundation and coach of the Girl’s U16’s team was delighted upon hearing the girls had been selected for DiSE, “I am really happy for Daisy and Ella to be included within the 2024-2026 DiSE cohort. Their attitude to learn and develop as players is phenomenal and both have had fantastic 2024 campaigns playing in the U16’s Girls East Division which has seen the team finish the season, top of the league. I am sure both, Daisy and Ella, will grasp this opportunity with both hands and gain valuable experience of the back of this”.

Talking about the future of Ella and Daisy, Parker said “I can’t wait to see how the girls progress over the next two years. I’m also looking forward to working closely with them during their time in the Development Academy and during pre-season as they, along with other members of our under 16s side, will be joining the Women’s side in the New Year as we look to prepare for the 2025 season.”
