Exploring Volunteering Success Story

Nathan joined us at the Hull KR Foundation in April 2024 on the Exploring Volunteering Programme funded by UKSPF and in partnership with The Humber Learning Consortium.   

Nathan was of low confidence when he first started, having never had a paid job or even knowing where to start to look for work, by attending weekly sessions Nathan’s confidence increased.   

Nathan took part in workshops which included CV writing, teamwork, money management sessions and problem solving.  

When Nathan got work experience with the events team, helping on the busy East Stand Bar on matchday, he was calm under pressure, build on his communication skills, and received excellent feedback. As a direct result of him attending Exploring Volunteering Nathan has now secured paid employment with the events team, but not one to sit back, Nathan has also secured a volunteering position at Barnardo’s Charity Shop to increase his skills he has learnt with the Foundation.
